Learning Outside the Classroom

It’s Grow Wakefield’s passionate belief that educating our young people about growing and cooking food is key to creating more resilient individuals and communities.

Young people need to understand the importance of local food – and making food culture school culture is central to this – so Grow Wakefield have established our  Grow Wakefield District Schools Network to allow local teachers, teaching assistants and interested parents to come together to bring food growing and cooking more onto the curriculum and to develop better Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC) facilities at their schools across the district.

Where appropriate we can also offer paid associates to help schools develop their LOTC initiatives, identifying what resources the school already has and can make use of and helping support and develop any staff or parents that are interested but lack the skills or confidence to do it on their own.

If you tick one of these boxes then you can sign up as a member of our Facebook group to share ideas and to keep up with any opportunities, events and activities as they arise.
